Love Songs (2002/06) In Love Songs the viewer enters an enclosed space that is empty except for visible speakers and a text plaque. The audio was recorded in an empty gallery space; the sound bounces through the recorded and actual space simultaneously. The singer is a bit exotic- his sentence constructions are sometimes odd and his accent is melodic, full of preaspirations. He is also remarkably accessible; the majority of the recording is in English, and he appears to be willing to be represented as I prefer him- a complicated problem made simple, manageable. The singer's voice is sincere and sweet; the recording suggests that our love for one another was almost unbearable. |
