Asked by a gallery to exhibit together, Love Enqvist, Maria Karlsson and I decided to work with a new project together. We each wrote a text about a performance work and gave the texts to an illustrator, Åsa Harvard, who was to document our performances. We worked with Harvard to write a contract that was acceptable to all parties and that made clear the provenance and ownership of each element of the work. Reproductions of the illustrations were exhibited at Galleri Box in Göteborg; in a second room the signed contracts were displayed along with piles of the texts originally given to Harvard. The illustrations are simultaneously the intellectual and physical property of the illustrator, documentation (in some cases the only documentation) of the three artists’ performances, and the bulk of a collaborative project by the three artists.
